WebTools You can Use in Designing your Wiki
An important part of a dynamic electronic field trip is the multimedia made possible through the website. With all the free web tools now available, it is easier than ever to create such websites. We are using a webtool here called a wiki, to deliver major parts of this training. This same tool can be easily used to create the web portion of your field trip.
Here is a youtube video that describes basically how a wiki works:

Some of the types of documents and tools you can include as you create your website are
  • Word documents and PDFs
  • photos and PhotoStories
  • Powerpoints
  • video clips
  • animations
  • other webtools such as Vokis and Glogs
Beginning on this page and continuing throughout the following ones you will see webtools demonstrated that can be used in creating your multimedia field trip. On this page you see a voki and a site that allows you to embed powerpoint slideshows. In keeping with the theme of the Belle of Louisville the voki shown here introduces an evening cruise on the boat. Vokis are avatars that you can create to say a 60 sec. message of any kind for you and so are useful for introducing the theme of your field trip. The other is a webtool called "SlideBoom" which publishes your subject-related powerpoint slideshow in a format that allows you to embed it into your website. Hyperlinks and embeds even work.

Here is a slideshow imbedded using a webtool called SlideBoom.
